My latest project 3 wheel recumbent trike
Sunday, October 21, 2018, 03:58 PM - Gear, Projects- Builds
I'm building a 3 wheel recumbent trike on the cheep with junk doner bikes. So far I have cut up bunch old bikes and satellite dishes bolts and metal.

So far time and little wire for the welder.
My quality controll inspector!

Hanging out above the shop.

Front Wheels are from 20 inch bike coaster break, 26 inch bike for rear end chain link fence posts for frame, satellite dish for seat pivot and harvested carrage bolts and nuts

20 inch coaster break wheels with guts removed and wheel chair bearing installed. Axels from the wheel chair.

Rolling cassis

Still working out steering, breaks, derailers, seat, and then maybe paint, sunshade top.

Then the big one build an add on to convert it to random. 2 peddels should be a challenging build.

Then if all works out plan / dream add peddle assist elect hub motor 48 volt.

Yes very ambitious but if your going to dream make it big!!

Big problem with junk bike parts is you get a bunch of junk. Rusted chains, bearings basically and all parts rusted. Some are possibly salvageable some not so much.

Chains will likely be new purchase, hopefully I can salvage some for testing.

Peddle assist hub motor and batteries will be new purchase, but only if concept design works out.

I'm using old tires and tubes ( holding air) but tires dry rotted, They should be good for testing.

Items I will need to buy new:

brake cables and pads
derailed cables
chains

Then if concept works out, new tires, tubes, lights,

Please continue to check the progress!!
