Bike seats AKA Saddles

I have been doing extensive research on bicycle seats lately, and I have come to the realization that the seat on my bike was not appropriate for my needs. While it was nice, soft, and wide, it was causing me hip pain after just 20 to 25 miles of cycling.

Upon further investigation, I discovered that the width of the seat was causing the femoral head to push out of the acetabulum, resulting in pain that lasted for a day or two after a long ride. Determined to find a solution, I delved deeper into the topic and found that I needed a narrower seat that matched my sit bones more closely.

Despite the common belief that a wide and cushy seat is more comfortable, I knew that a narrower seat would be the best option for me. I installed the new seat and took it for a few test rides, which confirmed that it was the right choice. During a recent 3-hour ride covering over 30 miles, I experienced no pain in my hip, butt, or legs, and I am now extremely satisfied with my new seat.

I am confident that my new seat will enable me to push my riding to 40 or 50 miles and beyond, without any discomfort. It just goes to show that with the right research and knowledge, even seemingly counterintuitive choices can be the best ones.
